Combat Medals, Streamers, and Campaigns, by A. Timothy Warnock
This volume documents the combat service of the USAF and its predecessor organizations, as recognized by the award of combat service medals to individuals and service or campaign streamers to air units from 1916 to 1973. For today's Air Force the heritage begins with the participation of aerial elements in the expedition against Mexican bandits in 1916, as the aviation section of the Army Signal Corps.
