In Jan. and Feb. 1991 millions of Americans watched in fascination as the Gulf War air campaign appeared on their television sets. Most of the coverage then focused on the operations over Iraq. The dramatic air attacks on downtown Baghdad but contrary to what television viewers in 1991 might think, the U.S. Air Force and other Coalition airmen did not direct most of their effort against Baghdad.
